Hello Guys , It's good to see you here again. Looking for a way to make a WhatsApp or Hike clone or want to launch your own Instant Messaging(IM) Service like them? then you are at the right place.

Don't be shocked to know that the technology that whats app and hike use to deliver message in real time is not new, It's on the web from decades. It's called Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). It's work like Email but a bit faster because it does not store messages on server. Every user has user URL like User@server.com but whats whatsapp do is changed it to User_Phone_No@WhatsApp.net because of this people doesnot have to add people manually to their friend list (Also called Rosters).

Now the things come How to make our own Instant Messenger. It's easy than you think. Even a 8 year old kid can do this. First we need to setup a server. I hope you are on Windows, you can also setup server on others OS too but this tutorial is for windows. Download OPENFIRE for windows.
Install it. When it is install, Right click on its logo then click run as administrator . If you done everything right you will see this.

Them it will open a setup page in your browser for first time. do as directed. In server name put your IP address if you want to access chat off the network . you can create users from admin panel. Now comes the client part. You can use 3rd party app to chat on your server like ChatSecure or develope your own application that will need specific tools and programming language skills like java, etc.
Open the client and add user name as UserName@YourIPORDomain and respective password. For Example my user may use Chirag@hackinghost.blogspot.com . Enjoy Your New Formed IM.
